❓ Frequently Asked Question

KTU Supplementary Registration Through Student Login

βœ… Answer

Students can now complete supplementary registration and pay the examination fee directly from their own KTU portal login. The route through the institution still exists β€” but the two are mutually exclusive. Once a student initiates fee payment through student login, payment through institution login is no longer possible for that registration.

That single rule is the most important thing on this page. Decide which route you are using before you click anything.

Before you start

Requirement Detail
Supported browsers Chrome 16+, Firefox 11+, Microsoft Edge, Safari 6+
Popup blocker Must be disabled β€” the payment window opens as a popup

Disabling the popup blocker is not optional advice. The payment gateway opens in a new window, and a blocker will silently stop it.

Step 1 β€” Find the supplementary exam

Log in to the portal and go to Exam β†’ Examinations. The page lists every exam under the year and type you select. Filter using:

  • Academic Year β€” for example 2019-20.
  • Exam Type β€” set this to Supplementary.

Click View/Register Exam Courses on the exam you want. The panel expands to show the Date range within which registration is open, and a Register button.

Step 2 β€” Select your courses

The Register button opens the Supplementary Registration page. It lists your eligible courses with, for each one:

  • Slot
  • Course name and code
  • Valuation Type
  • Appearing chance
  • Eligible for fee concession
  • Amount

Tick the checkbox in the Action column against each course you want to register for. The total updates as you select.

Step 3 β€” Save, or submit and pay

You have two buttons here, and they do different things.

Button What it does
Save Stores your selection for later payment. The courses stay checked when you log in again.
Submit To Proceed Submits the courses and takes you to the payment page.

To drop a saved course, untick its checkbox and click Save again.

You can also pay in instalments by course. Register and pay for one course now, then log in again later, select another course and pay separately. Multiple payments are allowed.

Step 4 β€” Make the payment

Submit To Proceed opens the Proceed to Pay page, showing the examination name, the total amount, and the available payment gateways. Choose one gateway and click Make Payment.

The Payment Details Form then shows your name and the amount. Tick the box confirming you have read the payment instructions and refund policy, then click the Pay (Amount) button. That redirects you to the bank site for the gateway you picked.

Note that a convenience fee and applicable payment gateway charges may be added on top of the examination fee, depending on the gateway.

If the payment fails

  • Contact the University if the transaction has failed.
  • A retry after a failed transaction is treated as a new transaction.
  • If the amount was debited but the status does not show Success, use the Check Payment Status link against that transaction.
  • If the status is unchanged after clicking it, final confirmation from the gateway is still awaited. Banks and gateways typically take up to 48 hours to update the final status. Do not attempt payment again in the meantime.
  • Payment-related complaints go to [email protected], with your KTU register number, bank transaction ID and documentary proof.

Step 5 β€” Registration slip and receipt

After a successful payment, the Payment Complete page shows your Reference Id, transaction date and status, with three buttons: Go to home, Print Receipt and View Request Details.

View Request Details shows the courses you registered for. From there, Registration Slip downloads a PDF containing:

  • College name, student name and register number
  • Examination name
  • Each course registered
  • Whether you are eligible for fee concession
  • Fee paid against each course, and the total

Print Receipt downloads the payment transaction receipt, showing your name, the total paid, the examination name, the Reference ID and the date of payment.

The registration slip carries a disclaimer worth reading: it is a computer generated draft printout, and the college can modify your registered courses before submission to the University. Check your courses again after the last date to make sure nothing has changed.

The error you will most likely hit

Clicking Save or Submit To Proceed without ticking any course produces the message “NO COURSES ARE SELECTED.” Select at least one course in the Action column and try again.

SC/ST/OEC fee concession students

Fee concession students pay nothing at the point of registration. Select your courses and click Submit To Proceed, and you go straight to the view page showing the registered courses β€” no payment step.

The rules attached to this are strict:

  • SC/ST/OEC students are exempted from fee payment for the first 2 chances of appearing for the exam.
  • The fee is paid by the college, after claiming the same from the welfare board.
  • The exemption is not available once the 2 chances are over.
  • It is also not available if the date exceeds the date without fine or superfine.

Once you have claimed the amount from the welfare board, pay through Student β†’ My Fees. Find the relevant Student Examination Fee row, click Pay The Dues, then Make Payment, and complete the Payment Details Form as usual.

If your college already registered you

Where the supplementary registration was done through the institution, the student login gives you a View option only. You can see the registration and download the slip, but you cannot modify it.

What this means in practice

The trade-off in this feature is control against reversibility. Registering yourself means you are not waiting on the college office β€” but the moment you submit even one course through student login, the institution cannot perform any operations for you on that registration. If there is a mistake in your course selection, the college cannot fix it from their end.

So check three things before you submit: that the courses listed are the ones you actually need to clear, that the appearing chance shown is correct, and that you are inside the registration date range without fine. For SC/ST/OEC students there is a fourth β€” confirm you are still within your two exempted chances, because the concession disappears silently after that.
