KTU minimum attendance is 75% in every individual course, not 75% averaged across the semester. Students are expected to attain 100%; total leave of absence may not exceed 25% of the academic contact hours for that course. Fall below the line in a course and you are awarded an FE grade for it and barred from the end semester examination — the rest of your results are unaffected.
The 2024 scheme added two standing relaxations
Under the 2024 regulation the 75% floor is reduced for two groups, and this applies automatically rather than on application:
- Menstrual leave — a 2% relaxation, so the requirement becomes 73% per course.
- Students with disability (PWD) — a 5% relaxation, so the requirement becomes 70% per course.
Neither relaxation existed under the 2019 or 2015 regulations, where 75% applied to everyone without exception.
A second attendance rule most students miss
The 2024 regulation adds a separate threshold for moving up a semester: you will not be permitted to register for the next higher semester unless you achieve at least 40% average attendance in the current one. This is independent of the 75% per-course rule — you can clear 40% overall and still collect FE grades in individual courses.
What this means in practice
Because the rule is per course, a single subject you have been skipping can cost you the exam in that subject even if your overall attendance looks comfortable. Colleges are required to inform you of your attendance status periodically so you can make up a shortage while there is still time to do it.
