❓ Frequently Asked Question

Can KTU attendance be condoned below 75%?

βœ… Answer

KTU attendance condonation lets the college Principal relax the 75% requirement down to 60%, but it is a concession with hard limits rather than something you can rely on. It applies in exceptional cases only β€” medical reasons, or a personal emergency such as a major tragedy or contingency β€” and the Principal must retain all records supporting the decision for verification by Academic Auditors and University officials.

The two limits that catch people out

  • Two semesters only. Condonation may be used for a maximum of two semesters across the whole programme. Use it in S1 and S2 and it is gone for the remaining six.
  • It is not automatic. The Principal decides. Falling between 60% and 75% makes you eligible to be considered, not entitled to be condoned.

Within a semester the relaxation can cover one course or several β€” it is not limited to a single subject.

What changed in 2024

The 2024 regulation adds a condonation fee, fixed by the University and payable for each course you want condoned. Students on the 2019 and 2015 schemes paid nothing. If you are short in four courses, that is four fees.

Below 60%

There is no condonation route below 60%. At that point the FE grade stands and you register for the course again when it is next offered. For a prolonged illness the correct route is a break of study rather than condonation, and that has to be applied for at the time β€” not afterwards.
