❓ Frequently Asked Question

Is KTU B.Tech Evening the same as the regular B.Tech?

βœ… Answer

KTU Evening and regular B.Tech lead to a degree awarded under separate regulations, and the differences are concentrated at the entry point rather than in how you are examined.

What differs

  • Entry. The Evening programme requires a Diploma in Engineering or Technology from the State Board of Technical Examination or equivalent, and permanent technical or professional employment at the time of applying, with at least one year of experience after the Diploma as on 1 April of that year.
  • Employer type. Government, quasi-government, registered co-operative, or public and private limited company establishments are recognised.
  • Regulation. It is governed by the B.Tech 2016 (Evening) Regulations, which carry their own examination, degree eligibility and fee provisions.

What is the same

End semester examinations in all lecture based courses of roughly three hours, supplementary examinations for eligible registered students, eligibility resting on attendance, internal marks and no pending disciplinary action, and a degree conditional on core course credits, the Project, and the branch minimum.

What this means in practice

The Evening route is not an easier path to the same qualification β€” it is a different admission route for working diploma holders, with the same examination burden carried alongside a job.
