❓ Frequently Asked Question

KTU Activity Points After Academics: How to Add Them

βœ… Answer

Yes. A college can add activity points for a student after they have finished their academics, using the “Activity Points after Academics” feature in the KTU portal. The provision exists for students whose programme status is Trailing β€” academics complete, but degree eligibility not granted because they fall short of the minimum activity points.

This is done entirely from the college login, not the student login. A student cannot add these points themselves.

Step 1 β€” Open Activity Point After Academics

Log in to the KTU portal with the college credentials and go to Student β†’ Activity Point After Academics.

The search page filters by Batch, Program, Program Type, Institution, Branch, Student and Status. Click the Add button at the top right to begin a new entry.

Step 2 β€” Pick the year, programme and student

Select the academic year, the programme and the student. The student’s details load automatically β€” institution, name, register number and branch.

The panel labelled Activity Point Acquired During Academic Year shows the year-wise points already on record, the Total Activity Points, and a Points to be earned figure. That last number is the shortfall you are filling.

Step 3 β€” Enter the activities and points

In the Additional Points Acquired After Academics Study table, add one row per activity. Each row takes:

  • Activity β€” selected from the dropdown (NCC, Sports, Industrial Exhibition Visits and so on).
  • Points β€” the points claimed for that activity.
  • Evidence β€” an uploaded supporting document.
  • Remarks β€” free text.

Use the + icon to add another row and the βˆ’ icon to remove one. Fill in the Student Submitted Date, then click Save.

On a successful save, the portal shows “Student activity points added successfully” and the record appears in the list with status Saved. The list displays points earned during academics, points earned after academics, and the new total side by side.

Step 4 β€” Edit or delete an entry

While the record is still in Saved status, the Action column gives you both options. The Delete icon removes an activity point entry; the Edit icon reopens the record so the activities or points can be changed.

Step 5 β€” Submit to the University

This is the step colleges most often stop short of. Save only stores the changes in the portal. For final submission to the University, you must click Submit.

If the total is still short

The portal will not accept a submission that leaves the student below the minimum. Attempting it produces the message “Minimum activity point not earned.”

Correct the entries β€” add the missing activities or fix the points β€” and submit again. Check the Points to be earned figure on the form against what you have entered before retrying.

Confirming the submission

Once submission succeeds, the record’s status changes from Saved to Submitted in the list, alongside the updated total activity points.

Treat that status as the confirmation. A record sitting at Saved has not reached the University, however complete the data looks.

What this means in practice

The feature exists to close a specific gap: a student who has cleared everything academic but is held back from the degree purely by an activity points shortfall. Because the 2 credits from activity points are mandatory for the award of the degree and cannot be substituted by academic performance, that shortfall would otherwise be an indefinite block.

Three things to get right. Keep evidence in PDF and under 40960 KB, or the upload fails at the point of entry. Read the Points to be earned figure before adding rows, so the total clears the minimum on the first attempt. And confirm the status reads Submitted before telling the student it is done.
