Attendance is worth a share of your KTU internal marks, separately from whether it makes you eligible to sit the exam. Even if you clear the 75% eligibility bar comfortably, attendance below the threshold for full marks costs you CIE marks in every course.
2019 scheme
Attendance carries 20% of the CIE mark, awarded in full only at 90% attendance or above in that course. Below 90% the attendance marks are reduced proportionally.
2024 scheme
The threshold for full marks drops to 85%, and the reduction is banded rather than proportional:

Both regulations require duty leave and special leave to be taken into account when awarding attendance marks — so an approved relaxation protects your CIE mark as well as your exam eligibility.
What this means in practice
The band structure makes the 2024 rule unforgiving at the edges: 84.9% attendance and 80.1% attendance both score 4, but dropping from 85% to 84.9% costs you a mark outright. Since this is per course, the arithmetic repeats across every subject in the semester.
