❓ Frequently Asked Question

Is Inter College Transfer allowed in KTU?

βœ… Answer

The KTU transfer notification inviting inter-college transfer applications is issued by the University just before the commencement of the third semester. That timing is fixed by regulation, not by individual colleges, and it is the only window β€” transfers are permitted just before the third semester and take effect from its first working day.

What you need in place before applying

  • You must fulfil the academic eligibility requirement for promotion to the third semester. Falling short of the credit requirement disqualifies you regardless of anything else.
  • You may opt for only one college. There is no ranked preference list, so the choice is a single decision.
  • The receiving college must have vacancies within its sanctioned strength.

If more students apply than there are seats

Where applicants exceed vacant seats, transfer is decided on Kerala Engineering Entrance rank. Nothing else is weighed β€” not your first-year performance, not the reason for the request.

What this means in practice

Because the notification lands just before S3 and the transfer takes effect on its first working day, there is very little time between the announcement and the deadline. Students who think they may want to transfer should confirm their credit position for S3 promotion at the end of S2, rather than waiting for the notification to appear.
